Tribute is a major, somewhat limited form of currency, used in Black and White 2.
The player accumulates tribute through actions, such as completing achievements, objectives, or Silver/Gold Story Scrolls.
Tribute is used to unlock nearly all content within the game, including:
- New buildings, such as:
- Villager dwellings to help your population boom,
- Industrial-productivity improving buildings,
- Military recruitment centers,
- Buildings which impress neighboring nations, encouraging them to join your growing empire,
- Embellishing décor to add a little flavor to your cities, which even your villagers appreciate, and sometimes serve unique purposes,
- Wonders, which differ from the previous game in their intentions; in this case, they harness the power to bring your foes to their knees,
- And buildings which fill your villagers with happiness, or despair, establishing you as a good, evil, or neutral god.
- Miracles which can be used for good, or evil, to protect, attack, or help grow your nation in safety and prosperity,
- Teachings for your Creature, such as how to use four of the same miracles that you can use, and how to more efficiently fight, entertain villagers and improve soldier morale, gather resources on your behalf, and to help transform humble foundations into grand buildings,
- Toys to help shift your Creature's alignment, and help it learn about the world around it,
- Books with lore about the world,
- And even imports from prior lands, such as adding male and female villagers to your population, or your strongest platoons of swordsmen, archers, or siege weapons (do note, they become progressively-more expensive, the more iterations of each respective import that you purchase).
- If you do import swordsmen or archers, and they happen to be seasoned war-veterans, it's then recommended that you promptly merge your weaker platoons with the imported ones, to bolster their collective strength, and impart the veterans' experience upon the fresher ranks.
